Do DSP amps eliminate the need for a crossover?

I have been looking at getting a new sub amp and have just started reading about DSP based amps. I know I am old...
So if I understand what I read, these include crossovers and eqs.

So if I bought a dsp amp to run both tops and bottoms, I wouldn't need an a crossover?
 
only IF they have a built in crossover...whilst they wont be a fancy or as flexible (as pflash said) they still do a fairly good job.

Each amp DSP are different between manufacturers/models, but Crown does a really good job of their DSP amps, starting at the XLS Drivecore series right up to the CDi...
