I have also noticed that short scale basses are either the least expensive ($350 and under) or over a grand (Birdsongs). I haven't seen anything in between. I just bought my bass in November, so my search is fairly recent.

Doesn't look big on her at all. If you're comparing it to the way a guitar would look, then maybe. But for a bass, it looks perfect.
