Do I need a new Bass ?

I'm wondering why you can't get a credible P bass sound from the Yamaha.

That being said, I'm good with the P bass type sounds I get from my Mustang P/J and Squier Jaguar SS. Both have very nice necks that are very easy for me to play though it took me a bit of looking to find a neck I really liked on the Mustang.

You have everything you need.

People waste tons of money on basses they never wind up using.

It's all in your fingers not the bass.

If you're not happy with what you have, you will never be happy.

You can use that money for something much more useful, or even donate it.

Learn to love the gear you have.

If you rarely use your b string you really only need one 5 string.

Ditch the BB415. Get a BB414. Done.

As others have noted, the Yamaha BBs are highly capable of delivering a very convincing P tone. But there are tons of other Fender and non-Fender options out there. Be patient. Shop used. Have fun.

Try working your EQ on both the bass and amp.
If not you got G.A.S.
Get the P Bass.

Have you tried messing with the eq? I am not familiar with the Fender Rumble 100 bass amp but it may simply be your amps lack of versatility. I have several Ibanez Soundgear basses as well as other basses too. Both 4 and 5 string. The amps that I use are Gallien Krueger. I have both a combo amp, the GK MB-115 and a full size rig the GK NEO 410 cab paired with a GK MB Fusion 800 head. I can use any bass that I own on either of those amps and have plenty of tonal versatility. Now granted, depending on what I am wanting to do, I may need to adjust the eq but the amps do a great job of giving me just about any tone that I need from my basses.

When I made the switch to GK it breathed new life into basses that I'd sort of written off. The GK eq (to my ears) really sets them apart from other amps in the same price range.
FYI i play an MB115 II + MBP115 combo rig and I also have an MB800 that is pushing two Mesa ph410s. However, the combo rig is so light and loud, my heavy mesas don't get out as often as they used to.

For the record - - I have several basses and NONE of them has a tort pick guard. I don't think my life is incomplete because of that.

70s classic vibe or a Matt Freeman, they are unbelievably great basses and esp for the price... oh yea, get another bass

I have a beautiful Ibanez Sr 1300 (it's great Bass and I can't be more comfortable with the neck )
I have Yamaha bb415 in beautiful color and it's the most 5 string neck I ever touched .even Ibanez 5bstring necks were too thick for me so it's kind of the best match .
I have fender rumble 100 ,still learning use it but I get nice tone with it.(expect for slap )

Now I'm thinking about a fat humbucker or p bass tone.something better than my Yamaha ,like a fender p bass sound .
Because I feel my Ibanez sound is not that fat that I like and my Yamaha sound good but still far from that .but the reason I'm asking this is that I can't choose between buy a 5 or 4 strong.If I buy five string I rarely use the b string that much rare that in my career I touched my Yamaha b string 5 time .I enjoy 4 string because I can play aggrasaggr witgowi be worry about string space or the sound they may make by accidentally touch b
So I'm stuck here that forsy do I need a bass or I need other thing ?
If yes a five or four strings ?
Fender 5er are too big for me so they are out plus sadly 35 inch basses .

I think I'd stick with the basses you have and get a new amp. Those Fender Rumble amps...aren't they entry level gear?

is the SR1300 one of the ones with nordies? if so, i've dialed in a very Pbass sound from the SR1600 and gotten tons of bass playing through rumble 100s at guitar center. on the one hand, one should always buy a new bass. on the other hand, i suspect you have the tools to get the sound you want if you experiment with the settings and - possibly - the strings, which can make a HUGE difference in tone.

Oo, good call. Or jaguar if you want 34". I recently tried a player jaguar and it was pretty sweet.

i buy basses i can't afford that i have no room for, and i have an electronic drum kit wedged in our tiny 900 square foot condo i used to know a female singer who lived in a tiny single apartment but she had a collection of mics for a wide variety of recording and live situations that she spent thousands on, plenty of effects, her own PA and so on. and i currently know a jobless female who just bought a used DSLR even though she doesn't have a car.

I was thinking Fender (not squier) when i wrote that (unless there's a fender ss jag?)..... but yes! They're cheap and awesome.
