Do I shower?

Ew smokers. When I look back, I cannot believe I ever smoked. I'm not a militant anti-smoker I swear - I never bring it up to people or throw dirty looks or anything, but boy do I silently judge them... :D

I know this sounds sappy, but it's been gratitude that kept me sober for a lot of years and it's been the same thing that keeps me from smoking after quitting about 5 years ago. I'm so happy and lucky to be quit I'm too busy enjoying myself to waste even a minute worrying about what others might be doing to themselves. I can't help them by complaining about their habits and I'm not in the smoking cessation business so it really is none of my business. If it was a matter of sharing a house with a smoker it might be different, but just casual social contact doesn't bother me at all. Their problem, not mine. If I can smell it when I get home I'll clean up if I'm otherwise done for the day, but if I'm still dressed for the day, I'm working.

I have my usual grooming routine. I'm exposed to a crap ton of auto exhaust every time I leave the house and I've never worried about that smell.

I also suspect so much is made about the smell of burning tobacco not so much because the smell is that gawdawful but because being exposed to it is a dangerous trigger for a lot of reformed smokers. I have nieces and nephews raised in the beginning of the "smoking bad mmmmmkay" era with families of their own who have never smoked and I've never heard one complain about the smell of smoke even when exposed to it at family gatherings. At the family Christmas party, one of my aunts who is still smoking is always hitting me up to go outside with her to smoke. I think because I don't make a deal out of being quit she forgets. Reformed smokers on the other hand can get downright preachy at times.

There is also the alcohol element. A lot of folks I know who have an occasional beer or cocktail will also smoke while imbibing and many are former nicotine addicts but only have a drink and smoke occasionally now. Just don't try to sell me on either idea and we're fine. It's a lot like someone trying to save me. I'm mature enough to make up my own mind on the subject so please reserve your sales routine for someone else.

I know you're under pressure, but so's the sh
As your doctor, I advise you to take two showers, lime and coconut, and don't call me in the morning.

Smell you later...

"SHOWER SHOWER!!

SHOWER SHOWER!!

SHOWER SHOWER!!"

Everybody, altogether now...Chant!

One of the smokers is a lung transplant doctor. He says he only does it on weekends in situations like this. He's the bass player. I moved to guitar and keys. His main bass is a Warwick stage 2. Also has a neck through thumb. This is only the 2nd week with him so I don't know what else he has. He's a awesome player. Can't believe he's a doctor and that good.

Get a can of Axe body spray and just empty it onto your body. (you'll likely suffocate if you do it all in one spray, so maybe go outside and hold your breath for 30 seconds at a time)

If they complain about the smell, tell them you can relate bc you have to not only deal with their smoke during practice, but need to shower and wash your clothes when you get home each time. And the second hand smoke affects your health long term too.

Bring a second can and apply whenever they take a smoke break until they get the point.
