Perhaps this has been well-trodden territory, but I always enjoy a good poll!

How often does your response to a thread actually answer the OP's inquiry (where applicable), or do you just go off on a rant, travelling into the depths of your own bass labyrinth?

Had an English teacher who really wanted us to pass a test. "When you answer a question, ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!" was her main advice. I didn't get it at the time. Nowadays I figure that, no matter how clear, concise, or repetitive I make the first post, there's about a 30% chance I'll get any useful response. Probably under 10% I'll get the quality of answer I'm hoping for. So I always do my darnedest to respond in a way that furthers the purpose of the thread, hoping karma will do its job.

Then again, I suppose this thread is almost intended to be off the rails, so maybe I goofed this time...

Well op to answer your question let me tell you a story about myself and my brilliance. It was 1968 and I'd just joined my first pro band. Things were different back then, all musicians wore onions on their belts, not like we have today those big yellow ones, anyway I'm amazing and always well prepared so when the band leader told me to keep the low end tight I punched him in the face and stole his girlfriend....

My Ampender Super Bassflex amp has never steered me wrong. Use the same gear I do or you're wrong, and I will feel invalidated.

I usually advise the OP to adjust the truss rod. I was going to go with “add HPF”, but several dozen others beat me to that one.
