Here’s your spray chrome that works. It comes from a company called SpazSticks. You can buy direct or from Amazon, and I suspect most any hobby shop should be able to order it for you if you prefer that route.

I’ve used this on lexan with great results so it should be a no brainer on a lightly scuffed poly finish.
I would also recommend you use their black backer. I've tried it with both gloss and flat black enamel and it kinda works, but it looks so much better with their backer. I used it to do chrome highlights (bumpers etc) on toy race car bodies so it can take a licking.
you can get it in spray bombs and airbrush ready. The spray bombs work, but it’s easier to control if you can shoot it.

I would unapologetically replace the pickguard if it was tort.

That Ibanez I was originally trying to get a mirror chrome finish, like Joe Satriani's guitar, but that was impossible with rattle cans, so I just did a metallic silver/chrome which came out decent, and then did a marble effect, which the spray paint shoots out like silly string over top. Looked cool, but when I clear coated it, it was too cold out and the clear developed all these tiny cracks and raised texture. Learned my lesson.
The explorer I tried doing a cracked effect on the body and headstock. Came out ok on the headstock, but the effect was so tiny and fine on the body you couldn't see it from any distance, so I sanded it back down and just did a plain bright white, and then painted the binding stripe.

Hope it works out with the new chrome paint,but as is, it looks like some happy accidents going on.

Think I know why I don't.

When you have one bass you play all the time, you been through the gig war stories and all that time in the shed. And you love that bass like you love your dog. That's when it makes sense to put a scarf and sunglasses on it. Show the world how you feel.

When you got 5 or 50 basses, there's not much you can do to be all up close and personal with one of them. Kinda like the difference between real and fake relic I guess.

I have an extra truss rod cover from my other thunderbird, so I decided to put a sticker on it that I liked the artwork of. It's from a tattoo artist, Lu Lorammartin tattoos. My wife has a sleeve done by her. I'm a fan.

Have put an insane amount of time & mods into this, lol. However, the most eye catching ones are not on it yet. Alperious from Alperious Pickguard's is currently working on my custom Pickguard, control plate, neck plate, headstock plate, and battery cover plate. lol.

As for the actual mods... pickups are Tom Brantley rewinds (Geddy), 3mm thick hand cut/notched brass shields below the pups (mounted and wired to the body's internal ground), puretone gold stereo Jack w custom made and soldered photomos circuit (prevents battery drain), Babicz FCH through body bridge (gold), Graph tech Ratio open back 4-in-line tuners (gold), gold string tree, gold coloured metal hardware (front and back), custom design Pickguard from greasy grooves (copper shielded), custom gauge optima gold strings (40-50-70-90), gold aluminum pot knobs, hand shaped graph tech Black Tusk XL Nut... there's more involving the pre amp and other things I have coming but stay tuned I guess. I'll probably create a post with the ridiculous list of mods for my 2019 Jazz Elite once Alperious's 5 custom designed plates are finished and installed. I will be painting it too, because... why wouldn't I at this point lol.

I have a JP - a Squier Jazz body with a Precision neck. I routed out the body and added a Precision pickup and installed an Audere preamp. I painted the body and headstock seafoam green used on a 1963 Chev Impala. This bass isn’t a Squier or a Fender, so I made an Impala decal and that’s the name of this bass.

I have grown to love blocked and bound dark boards. If I get a bass with a dark board without the blocks and binding, I add Jockomo inlay stickers. Looks great and have never peeled off or had any effect to sound.

Nice color. Not sure the 63 Impala came in that color way but the 57 Chevy sure did.

Gorgeous. The binding on the body and headstock is checkerboard. Beautiful finish. Very nice for a 600 dollar instrument. It has a thick neck (if your into that) and an aggressive pickup. More neck dive than I like but I added an extension for the strap.

I have done both cosmetic and functional changes. Pickups, tuners, and a couple necks.

And I like colors. All artwork done by my kids and that's a connection you can't beat. None of them play but were happy to make contributions to dad's hobby.
