Do you call your bass a guitar?

its actually a guitar. a bass guitar. the 6 string is called a tenor guitar. just like a bass clarinet or alto clarinet. its the same instrument in a different octave. johnny a.

I agree with your sentiment, but a tenor guitar is a specific instrument. It has 4 strings and is tuned in fifths like a mandolin. They are pretty sweet. My friend owns one that previously belonged to Frank Black of The Pixies
 
I don't. And I really dislike it when someone else refers to my bass as my guitar.

i used to feel like that, untill i started really playing classical music. now i think of my electric bass (still my main instrument) as a bass guitar a lot more. i still call it an electric bass, though.

its really not an insult. its a bass guitar. just like a baritone sax, most guys will call it their barry, but if they call it a sax i wont hurt them.
