it's noble, but can we really say that we have our own world under control enough to bother seeing others? I think we'll only truly delve into other worlds if this one is exhausted to the point we can't use it anymore.
I dont see any problem with human exploration before we have our own worlds issues under control. "Humans by nature desire to know" - Aristotle.
Considering the greater amount of energy, effort, and funds which go into countless frivolous things, I find it hard to see space exploration as an unworthy pursuit. Considered against the whole, we spend very little on it.
Exploring space is all about looking beyond, asking the big questions, and pushing the limits of knowledge and exploration. Plus it generates valuable and tangible spin-offs here on Earth.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect to wait for humanity to get its act together before we go off exploring. If that's the prerequisite, then we would never get anywhere.
yea, but the thing is I'm looking at this from the perspective of "whoa, this is millions of dollars". I mean, what real progress has been made that has changed any of our lives from hearing about this? A couple astronauts talking against the government about how aliens exist as what our minds envision, and a supposed trip to the moon? That's not enough to me.
I care deeply.
And I know the facts about what we get for our space program dollars:
- New technologies and new products - for a country and world
craving the stuff.
- New jobs - for a country desperate for them.
- Security. Sounds far fetched now, but the reality is that
space will be a whole new Frontier, with countries jockeying
for position and ownership. Our future national security depends
on continued investment in space. Like it or not.
And I know the facts about what we get for our space program dollars:

- Security. Sounds far fetched now, but the reality is that

on continued investment in space. Like it or not.
Less than a month ago we decided to throw a pile of money totaling almost 1 trillion dollars at a handful of government run banks in an attempt (which so far has not succeeded) to keep our stock market from sinking. The entire space program budget is minuscule compared to the amounts that our government casually shovels out every week in just about every other budget area.
There may be good arguments to make for not exploring space, but "because the government needs the money elsewhere" is not one of them.
That's pretty flippant, and, quite frankly, incorrect. The amount of scientific advances that have been made by NASA are numerous and improved our lives. Do a little research and I think you'll see that we have had many benefits from the space program.
If the work of countless individuals over several decades is "not enough for you", then perhaps you need a look a little closer at what they've actually accomplished.
