Do you ever put yourself to sleep?

I grew up in the 60's and 70's - In 2019 I'm still slightly growing. Late at night when my wife is asleep and my son is playing xbox -- I grab one of my basses and plug into the Ampeg Rocket. For some reason I always have to play some of Dazed and Confused - The Ocean - and Pink Floyd Money. Then I start creating my own incredible riffs and runs. As I slip into tiredness I think that I really should be recording this because it is really quite good and I will never remember it tomorrow. Then I get drowsy - my bass gets heavy - and I go to bed. I repeat this over and over - I dub myself the Groundhogs Day Bass Player. Do any of you experience this? I'm considering afternoon caffeine.

this is exactly what i do down to the not recording new riffs that the next day i can't remember at all. i play familiar songs to relax, and that seems to get the creative juice flowing, so i start coming up with very cool riffs, then the bass and my eyelids get heavy and i head off to bed. rinse and repeat.

I never play that late in the night that I start to feel sleepy.

But as I practice new stuff or a riff that I have a problem with or whatever ... I always got some ideas and so I always have my BOSS RC30 loop station hook up so I can use it to record and do stupid stuff and just make my creativity flowing. It isn't always good but sometimes it is good and it is there recorded.

I do more listening than practicing...I get more out of listening to what my next job is...I'm always playing somewhere at least once a week and I play by hearing....so once I get the songs familiar in my mind it's easy for me to transfer those thoughts to my fingers

I used to play my acoustic and zone out to simple man. Playing that song for a good 20 minutes or so just really relaxes me.

You fall asleep because you're tired!
I have to practice quietly into my GK MB108 combo. It's small but it sure has some nice bottom end. I put the TV on YouTube and play along with some of my favorite 80's classic rock tunes and get sleepy. I play as long as I can then quietly put everything away. I've considered an Ibanez Mikro Bass so if I fall asleep it won't bother me laying on my stomach! :roflmao:
