When I was in the USMC I was dubbed the keeper of the harassment package.
When I was involved in some not so legal endeavors I was simply Fred if a name was required.
I was recently in a band with a front man who went by Willie. One day myself, Willie and one of the guitar players were sitting around working on some arrangements and the guitar player asked me if I thought of our front man as Willie or thought of him by his real name. I told him he was the third Willie I'd backed up and only one was an actual Willie so for the sake of simplicity I just thought of him as Willie.
A few years ago I was in a band playing up in Knoxville one saturday when the University of Alabama was also being hosted by UT in Knoxville. The BL always introduced me as the Alabama thumper but that night, after UA had beat the living doodoo out of UT I asked he just keep it simple and refrain from telling a bunch of angry UT fans they had an Alabama guy in the house, and just use my name.

Wise choice. Fans of any SEC* team are pretty rabid.

*Edit - let's just say any team in the southern US. We're all pretty crazy.

Because for some odd reason, for last decade or so there has always been another band member with the same first name as me, David in every band. In fact 2 years ago, we Had a 4 piece 80's cover band and all but one of us were all named David.
I'll be doing an acoustic set with the old guitarist from that band, David also in a few weeks. It's an upscale wine bar.
Never been to one so should be interesting.
We could call our duo the Double D's but then people would be expecting to see a couple of buxom babes.

I was once in an improv comedy class and two guys were named Dave
We called one Dave & the other one Dave with a beard--even though they both had beards.
