Living in Alaska for 31 years, I've been in MANY...DOZENS...of earthquakes. TV makes them seem scary. They're really pretty boring. Most quakes last only seconds and more often than not, you won't even realize there's been a quake until you hear about it on the news.
Worse I've been in was a 7.6. That one was very noticeable. Lasted about 5 - 10 seconds and the house made creaking noises. That's it. They're pretty boring. But I respect your phobia because it's real for you.

Sex with the light on - just can't do it. Never been crazy about "in the lake/on the beach" action either. Stuff lives in that water!

Funny thing. I more or less grew up in a lake. I was a very strong swimmer and loved diving deep into the lake, just holding my breath. My friends and I had numerous, somewhat dangerous swimming competitions. But the one thing that always freaked me out were large objects underwater.
Got what they deserved handing a chimp an automatic weapon.

I've always been afraid of these people in Africa. I'll probably never go to Africa and meet this type of militants but they scare the **** out of me. Some of them have completely lost any sign of humanity, also there's the jungle factor too I guess. I wouldn't last 4 days in a jungle.

I have a friend who grew up in South Africa and moved over here (America, New Jersey). He always reminisces about how great it was and how traumatic the change was.
