Do you have cable?

Really thinking about ditching it, this thread made me think, not only do I spend more time in netlix and other online sources I also only use the TV for background noise. I also have the on while I sleep (for some reason I have to) which is a terrible habit I need to break.
I only watch reruns when I do which are available by other means.

You might miss it for the first 30 days (think mentioned already), but not over the long run.

All of this in the back drop that net neutrality remains... That is your ISP will not be able to edit content.

avid netflix / hulu / youtube user here. I don't even own a TV, and don't miss it for a second. I read a lot more and practice bass A LOT more.

Cancelled cable 3 years ago. I was one of the first of my friends to go this route. Almost everyone I know does this now. And this is a bunch of 30-somethings, not the younger more tech savvy crowd.

Netflix, Hulu, southpark.com, espn.com, etc, etc.

Sounds about right... Ditched my cable 12 years ago when in my mid to late 30's. Ditched my LAN line 5 years ago (cell only). Ditched my ICE (internal combustion engine) car 6 weeks ago.

Is this gonna clip anyone? I'm not computer savvy enough to know what the measurements they are using even mean. Even when they try to explain them further down in the article it goes over my head.

From that article:

"American children and adolescents spend 22 to 28 hours per week viewing television, more than any other activity except sleeping. By the age of 70 they will have spent 7 to 10 years of their lives watching TV."
-- The Kaiser Family Foundation

By the "10,000 hours to mastery" rule, that's enough time to completely master a new skill every 7.5 years.

My wife is a TV addict so we have both:
Cable = Charter/ one pkg up from basic = $50/mo
Sat = DTV Total choice = $57.50/mo

I watch some news, Lawrence O'Donnell and sports
but I mostly read or am on this contraption.
