I once had a dream of driving around a lake at night (near where I used to live) with a friend and he was wanting to go to another friend's home to find a gun he had there. In the dream the owner of the gun wasn't home and we didn't get the gun. Had nearly the exact same dream a few nights later. At that time I lived about 1600 miles from the location in the dream and hadn't had contact with anyone there in at least 3 years.
A year and a half later, I was back in the area of the dream and went to locate some of the people that I knew there, and found out that about the same time as the dreams (I didn't keep track of the dates of the dreams), my friend had gotten a gun from the exact same place we went in the dreams, had taken it back to his parents place and blew his brains out. Then, I wondered if I had the dreams before, at the same time as, or after the event, and whether (if I had tried to call someone to get hold of his family or something) maybe I could've prevented him from carrying out his plan.
Also, I had 'falling' dreams for several years while young, where I'd wake up during the fall, but never really had context of the event. One day I remembered slipping over a horses head at a stream (was riding bareback on an Indian blanket), and never had those dreams again.
