Do you LOVE your bass tone?

Do you LOVE your bass tone? Do you feel joy, elation, or bliss due to the voice of the notes as you lay down a sweet groove?

Or do you not really care? Maybe it's the notes, not the tone that matters.

Or maybe you aren't happy with your tone, and you can't find that tone in your head that you are yearning for.

I really, really care.
I've spent alot of time and money over the years to bring out the sound/tone I want.
Band I gig with likewise has spent countless time and funds to sound our best at whatever job we're playing for.

When we run our own sound I'd guesstimate 95% + of the time we have "GREAT" results, when we're at the mercy of a hired/furnished sound company, it's a coin toss as to what's going on out front.

I've never lost a second of sleep over tone, and I certainly don't with this hookup:

I've got the American Original 50's P going thru the GK MB210ii and I love it. Running the bass thru the MXR M87 comp (always on) - EQD Dirt Transmitter - BF Queen Bee (on the way now) - TC Corona Chorus - BF3

I love my tone from my equipment, I love how I enhance that tone with my hands (more important IMHO), and I love the pocket I create with my feel. There are others much greater than me, but I think my tone is pretty good.

I have played with lots of cats that care about their tone so much they neglect feel, and command over the music. Tone isn’t everything. If you have a great tone but get lost in the song form or can’t funk the pocket, it’s all meaningless.
