Do you name your basses?

This is Dot, I've just decided — short for Dorothy …
… in truth, this is Dot's identical twin, Ruby :smug:

I remember Dot! She was on Animaniacs!

i don't name my basses - it's easy to differentiate them by calling them the green mikro, the woody bass (that's what my husband calls my mahogany oil finish GSR100EX), the mustang, the black micro, the traveler and so on. it doesn't take any longer to use those brief descriptions than to call them by names.

Left to right. “Grandpa” “papa Smurf” and “old school”

Grandpa is a metalocalypse reference. There was an episode where they referred to acoustic guitars as “grandpas” guitars.

as soon as i read that, i could hear skwisgaar (taller than a tree) in my head saying "grandpas guitars" :D

Well after all has been said and done I have done a quick revert. I had one precision to rewire, another to install Hb7's, and a third to try out some Vintage Lace Sensor.
Now they are known as
"Why you son of a ,,,,"
This @#$% Ridiculous
Who puts #3 screws in a machine head
And finally
You are lucky you are my favorite.
Oh and Abby Normal as my granddaughter was visiting.
Bob

Seems like, especially if you have more than one say, Fender P-bass, you'd consider naming them to keep them straight.

Or is that just weird?

And if you do name them, I'd love to hear what names you've given them.

I name mine. It's quite fun. All lefties.
* Vader (stealth Bongo HS 5)
* Baby (Warwick Streamer LX 5)

I did the same thing. My Epiphone Dot is named 'Dorothy' because Dot is usually short for Dorothy. And she is one of two red instruments I own. So the other, my Spector NS2a, is 'Ruby'. My daughter says the Spector's last name is 'Slippers'.

I still have one axe left to christen. All the others, bar the drums etc. — my next challenge, are pretty much on the census already. I was contemplating Blackie — a little lame, maybe. And not so novel, an homage — but it is the spitting image of this one.

However …

solely on the strength of this,

I'm gonna go with Annie (maniac). Lives in the lounge room. Couch surfer extraordinaire. Will not budge. Not that I mind, mind you. On the contrary :)
