Do you name your basses?

MyBass.jpg

I named it 'the music man' creative ay....

:D Very ominous,Shappo.

Just capitalize it and viola! The Music Man...It`s like "The BatMan". Nuff said.

I love that mellow yellow color that The Music Man doth wear, bro. Like a cool faded out white. Nice old school look.

"The Hos Man"

Squier Jazz: Says "J Bass" on the head, so his name is John

Ibanez BTB: Ivan...the Ibanez

Fender Jazz: Lorcan, bought it from a guy named Lorcan & thought it was a funny name

Cheap eBay bass: It says "Guvnor" on the head, so I named him Arnie :)

I named my new Jaguar Bass in hot rod red "paws" phonetically, because at first it was a Piece of S***!. I'd say, "Hey, hand me POS", and people would say "Paws?!?" I've always had fairly expensive instruments and when I picked this one up for $500 I never knew I'd have such a noisy and hard time with the electronics.

I did not think of the Jaguar/Paws connection until now though, lol.

3. 2003 Roscoe SKB-3006: Abelonia: It's a beautiful instrument, worthy of an uncommon but not cheesey name. Ever see the Godfather? My Abelonia is not as olive "skinned" as Michael Corleone's, but equally as beautiful. Besides, my wife wouldn't allow us naming either of our daughters Abelonia.

Sorry to tell you, but it's not Abelonia. It's Apollonia.

left to right: Dragon, Controversy, Vedic. I named Dragon because i collect dragon themed stuff, my old guitarist named Controversy based on the stickers, and Vedic was the name my gf and i agreed fit my new OLP best out of Vedic, Ashalan, and Aseth.

Named mine Callisto, due to the way it looks. Anyone know what it was named after? Bonus points to the first person who guesses correctly (don't use Google, you cheaters!)

And yes, she is female. With curves like that, it's gotta be :D

don't suppose you named her after the leader of the morlocks from the xmen comics?

Nah. Seeing as no one has guessed it correctly thus far (or I just missed the correct guess) I'll just go ahead and tell you.

It's named after Jupiter's moon, Callisto, which sometimes takes on a blue-ish hue in photos and looks kind of similar to the finish of the bass. This is further cliched by the fact that Ibanez called the finish 'Blue Moon'

The moon was named after a somewhat minor nymph from Greek mythology.

EDIT: Missed this guess, which was pretty close:
I'm gonna throw out a wild guess and say Callisto from the Greek mythology? Because it's looks starry and spacey and such?

i've found that although i dont name my bass's myself the guitarist's in my band kinda do on my behalf and the names kinda stick they are as follows

peavey grind bass (fretless): known as "bodge it" as i did the fretless conversion myself

schecter 004: known as "the rickenb*stard" on acount of the body shape being kinda ricky looking

squier vintage moddified jazz: know as "the bare arse bass" on account of it being all natrual finish

fender pbass: known as "the tuexedo" as its got a black and white theme going on (white body, black bridge with pickup covers, black scratch plate etc)

all in all i think it just proves guitarists have no imagination

My Epiphone Thunderbird: ThunderCougarFalconBird. (She's beautiful.) :D

My Fender Precision: It's between Guadalupe, Natalie, or Jennifer. (It's all thanks to The Killers.)

My Hofner Icon: Lucy. (The Beatles, obviously. And a bet.) -_-
