i voted "no" on the cowboy hat. when i grew my beard for some santa pics, i also let my hair grow again, so now i have either a pony tail -or- i wear a boston scally cap that keeps the hair out of my face -or- both.

i've never worn a hat or cap regularly --- until last year. i've played corporate gigs with western themes and i wore the cowboy hats provided. maybe 2-3 of those.

but i also ticked "POLLS are my life," so there's that.

I'm addicted to my Skechers with Memory Foam. :)
 they are the only reason i'm still able to walk, i'm sure! :D

This is just solid advice all around.
For the cowboy hat owners, always remember that when your 10 gallon hat's feelin' 5 gallons flat, you need to grab a hunk of cheese. A slab or slice or chunk of cheese will do, too.

:)

I don't own a cowboy hat, but when I saw the topic, the first thing that popped in my head were the words to this PSA from the '70's or 80's.

I did as a kid. Long gone now, no idea what happened to it. My son was asking for one for Christmas and I went looking. The real ones are crazy expensive!
Check Ebay. Prices are quite variable. Buy only Stetson or Resistol felt. Straws are OK for summer.

NEVER EVER pick up a straw hat by the crown; you'll break the straw early. Handle only by the brim. (Same goes for felt handling hats - handle only by the brim.)

No. I live in Ohio. I don't want to draw attention to myself. A cowboy hat is not normal apparel where I live.

I do have a large woven straw hat that I wear in the yard and on walks to shield the sun from my face and neck. It's an Appalachian kind of a hat.
