Do you own Rush - Moving Pictures?

Yes. It is an album that marked a turning point in my musical awareness and taste. I was 10 years old. Also, it is the album that prompted me to learn to play bass.
Yes, the first Rush album I purchased. Had tickets for the tour, but was grounded and missed it.( i was 14 ). Next Rush album I bought was All The Worlds A Stage, and then all the previous ones. Have bought every album since, the day it was released. I had been turned on to Rush by a friends older brother (2112) a few years earlier. I have met Alex and Geddy and they are the coolest most down to earth famous people

Yup, bought it, learnt every drum part. Could never find band mates to play the songs with. 20 odd years later, now playing bass... I understand why. Limelight is the only song that I have attempted to learn
Not a fan when this first hit, and I was around. But I own this on vinyl, the first cd reissue, and the cd remaster. Played Tom Sawyer and Red Barchetta in a band in the 80's. Essential.

Yes, I own it, and love it.
It is perhaps best known amongst the "Not We", but even that aside, Rush fans will give a nod to this album. Great from start to finish, and apart from Hemispheres, easily the best Terry Brown production, sound wise.
It is the culmination of the Kings-Hemispheres-Waves-Pictures era.
As a fan, I used to love the way that Rush would release four studio albums,followed by a live set. It sort of "defined" eras of their work for me. In recent years, there's about six live sets to every one studio album (or at least it feels like it!)
And one of the best covers they ever had!

Have it on vinyl and CD. One of their best, but this marks the point where they started to become more synthesizer based. Saw them on the following tour and it was a treat. Opening band cancelled so Rush came out and played an extra long set. Not too many bands would do that. That's why I've a fan for longer than I care to remember!!
Wore it out on vinyl... twice! Two copies on CD - one was my wife's when we moved in together - and one of those is starting to die as well.

Forgot to mention, when Rush toured in 2010 they played the entire Moving Pictures album, in order. It was amazing. Vital Signs live?! And I had always dreamed of seeing Camera Eye played live, but never dared to hope it would actually happen. Not only did the band sound great but the video playing behind the stage, with black and white footage of New York and London, was really fitting for the song.
I owned it on cassette many years ago. Now I have t on MP3.

It's not my favorite Rush release, and I don't think it's their BEST work. I could see the argument some would make for that though. I think everything from A Farewell To Kings to Presto is dead even as far as song quality. They are all equally solid, just different.

Closest thing to perfect, beginning to end, that Rush put out.
Was 9 or so at the time of release but clueless. Got into Rush around 1986/Power Windows, and though I appreciate what they've done since, I think a lot of people would agree with my opinion that Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures was their pinnacle (without those two, they aren't in the R&RHOF, not that it matters, or perhaps even still together today). It's almost astonishing to me that there can be people who love their stuff - really love - from Working Man era to current days. They've evolved so much.
Not that Rush threads are rare around here, but its funny this came up now, for some reason Camera Eye popped in my head just before I saw the thread and I was pondering my regrets at allowing the semi-recent Time Machine/Moving Pictures tour to pass me by (it didn't come quite close enough, but I should've taken the relatively short roadtrip)... Rush is and always will be, I presume, my all time favorite and always my great love of my youth... Should they tour and do all of, say, Permanent Waves, well, that one I wont miss.
