Do you remember this Heavily Modded '66 Jazz Bass?

This heavily modded '66 Jazz bass was the butt end of a joke for awhile.

However, I was browsing Reverb recently and happened to stumble upon this.

This guy took that bass and completely restored it. It looks great now and it's good to see that bass back in a semi original form.

Now the price on the other hand... especially considering the work that has been done to it at this point...

I kinda liked the cut-down body shape. Shame to wreck a vintage piece, sure, but I don't buy into the "restoration", either. Took something unique and made it conform.

I don't know what that might (or might not) do to the value of the bass, but that guy had a lot of guts to take that project on -- and is clearly skilled. The video is pretty cool!

Pretty amazing restoration work, but I still wouldn't pay more than about $4k for it.
