On second thought, just because I am Passinwind does not mean some of you are not.

On topic, I smile and laugh a ton on gigs. People actually come up and talk to me while I'm playing casual jazz gigs quite often, and I've learned to deal with that reasonably well as long as it's not during a bass solo. I had pretty bad stage fright for many years, but I'm with Craig on the importance of interacting with the audience and your bandmates. When I started fronting my own band I had to change my whole demeanor quite a bit, and I have a lot more fun these days no matter which group I'm playing with.

I tend to laugh a lot as we don't really have a front man so the drummer and I kinda cut each other up between songs, tell the crowd that the more they drink the better we sound, that kinda stuff.

I also smile like crazy when someone (me included) screws up.

I smile one I relax, I have a lot of fun on stage. At practice I concentrate and for what ever reason stick my lips out....Im weird.

Generally I have a look that has been described as "pleasantly confident" but when the groove is just right or i have played something particularly "right" there is a beaming smile.

Playing music live is fun. Fun= smile. I smile when I'm playing. I smile when I'm watching a good band and they're making me feel it. If I want to do something fun that doesn't require smiling I go shoot my guns.
