Well, there's something to be said for variations on a theme. Picked up a four string Peavey Cirrus (American) about a year ago and liked it enough to get a fairly similar 5 string, and I'll probably end up with a Cirrus Fretless 5 before long.

i have bought 6 basses total. my first 2 were gio's my third was a 5 string soudgear (which i still have) my 4th was a atk, my 5th was a btb and most recently a 6 string soundgear! (i know i whent through allot!) my problem with the cirrus was i couldnt get that tone with allot of midrange but still keep a bottom end to it. idk maybe i should of messed with the amp more.

I try to be diverse... but there are brands i like more than others, and tend to buy basses from them:

1. Peavey
2. Ibanez
3. Fender/Squier
4. Danelectro


Of the 30 or so basses that have come and gone over the years, i can only think of 3 that weren't one of the above... and 2 of those 3 were Fender copies anyways...

My preference has been a Fender P or J since 1964, prior to that I could only afford a copy which was a Zim-Gar and a very good copy it was. I work with three different bass players and two of them have a few basses each so I do get a chance to hold a variety very often. Other than the obvious comfort/feel, the sound it produces is pretty much what people are drawn too. Style probably last, atleast I hope so compared to the other reasons to own. Doc

All my basses and all my guitars are Ibanez. I haven't decided to buy exclusively Ibanez, i just love the instruments i have, that's all. If someday i find an instrument that fits my needs, i'll buy it, regardless of the brand. So far i've been happy with my ibanez guitars.

Or it just means you looked at the price tag and laughed the whole way over to the Fender dealership.

Not that Ricks don't have rock star cool... they absolutely do. They are just not good enough to merit their price.

lol... I wondered the same thing. Whatever the case, more power to him. I don't play Ibanez but the Ibby-haters get on my nerves sometimes. They don't seem to understand that not everyone has their taste and, for some people, the tone is just fine and the ergonomics can't be beat.

Im kind of in the same boat. Although ive only owned about 6 basses, ive spent countless hours not only trying different ones in stores, but also searching all over the internet for all of the different models available. I always consider many different brands when buying a new bass, but i usually go for an ibanez. Right now i have 2 BTBs which ive found are pretty much perfect for me. I really like their electric guitars as well.

but for me I will never own a Fender no matter how good people tell me they are, Squier is great brand but I dunno , I simply hate Fender (for no reason at all) :atoz:

and yeah I love many brands and If it is an unknown brand I'll like it to

Mtd Kingston ,Ibanez ,Sterling By MusicMan, Squier , Tobias , MusicMan etc etc :smug: I would like to own a Wishbass and a Clement :D

and yeah If I had to sell out to some brand I would choose MTD , or MusicMan :hiding:

My knee jerk reaction was to say "No", but after 30 years of playin' I seem to have found my brand in Sadowsky. I now have three, and don't gig, record, or rehearse with anything else.

So, my honest answer is "Yes"... for the time being, anyway (I'm a never say never kinda guy).
