DOD Bonebreaker

Curious as to how this compares to the Blower Box once people start getting their hands on them. Seems like it'd be more versatile with the EQ. Just compared the two Excane videos and there were definitely some similar sounds and then a lot of different sounds for each. Like the Blower Box seems to clean up a little better at low drive settings vs. the Boneshaker - but that's just from listening to one video. I love my BB but always looking for a little different flavor of dirt.

I am and I like it a lot. I am using as an over the top distortion stacked after a BAT Quantum Mystic which is my always on but still pretty damn distorted pedal. The EQ makes for a TON of tonal variety. I haven't tried using it as a always on type pedal (that's what the QM is for) but I have no doubt it would do the job. The only thing I don't hear a ton of response from is the depth knob. I think I am getting better low end when I turn it up but it's not a huge difference. Maybe it's more dramatic at other gain/EQ settings. The ability to manipulate the frequency of the mid and treble EQ is what really makes this pedal shine. I have the mid and treble set to the upper part of their range and I get a nice grindy distortion going without any fizz.

Looks really cool for bass. Love the Black Arts stuff.

Ugh... it's the Boneshaker. Though Bonebreaker would be cool too :)

Recently I've been thinking about purchasing the dod boneshaker based on this clip and MrExcane's clip. I do like the thick warm distortion sound that the pro gutiar shop's clip has demoed. I plan to buy a new distortion pedal for my bass and I am considering buying this pedal. it's got a pretty cool sound. as I've mentioned on an earlier post, this is a must have pedal for metal bassist. \m/

Still waiting to see one of these pedals make an appearance overseas. It's only been an 8 month wait since the announcement. I looked for one in Europe over the summer with no luck and the official Digitech dealer in Bangkok has no record of this pedal in their backlog. I got tired of waiting for the Boneshaker to come out so I ordered a Blower Box and a Vick Audio Black Russian. Boneshaker is still on my radar, but it's not the priority pedal for me like it was 3-6 months ago. I'll maybe try to pick up a used one early next year.

"The control increases/decreases the overall low frequency “growl” of extended range instruments."

I have an Empress Heavy, and it sounds to me like it's similar to the "weight" control, basically a "low-end character" knob.

I kinda wonder if the dod boneshaker sounds similar to the empress heavy. I am looking to buy a new distortion pedal sometime soon and at this point, I am debating on one of these pedals. I like what I hear from these pedals, but do wonder if I'm on a tight budget, would I get the same results of the empress heavy with the dod boneshaker? or do both these pedals sound different from each other. either way, I want a new distortion for my bass real soon.

I think they are supposed to cover similar ground for sure---heavy distortion with lots of low end for downtuned guitars or bass---but I have no idea how similar they actually sound in practice.

Okay so it is similar to the empress heavy. I am looking to buy a heavy distortion with lots of lows for bass and I've been looking at the empress heavy and the dod boneshaker. they're just what I've been looking for. depending on my budget, I plan to buy one of these pedals.

I've owned both the Heavy and Boneshaker and made some comparison notes in my initial review post. It's several pages back but it can probably answer some of your questions

I took a look at your review on page 11 and I can see from your point of view that they sound similar. I am looking to buy a heavy distortion that has lots of lows. and these pedals are just what I've been looking for. I plan to buy one of these pedals sometime soon.

I just wanted to drop in and thank DOD/Digitech/BAT for designing the Boneshaker. I play a high output down-tuned bass (G&L SB-1 tuned in C and A#) and I have not bought or built anything in my pedal journey that could handle my bass and playing without farting or gating or square-waving or generally sounding like crap. Not because the pedals were bad, some were really nice with other basses or bassists, but nothing had the dynamic range and could manipulate the huge signal my bass was putting out. Especially with a decent amount of low end.

I used some tube gear in the studio that had the dynamic range needed but they weren't pedal board friendly and I was giving up hope to find anything that worked for me. So thank you!

The only downside is that my sausage fingers can't squeeze in between the EQ knobs without adjusting the other knobs.

Also, I'll second the request for the EQ centers. I know it's all about your ears but knowing the frequency ranges and amount of boost/cut can help me find sounds I'm use to using and work from there. It'll also help with recall for different setting with different groups/songs/etcs.

Same experience here as I have a SB-2 that is tuned to C standard!
