If it isn't, refer back to the thread on "Have you ever fallen for talkbass GAS hype."This is the first time Im looking forward to a pedal release. This better be worth all the hype
It's out in the world folks (it arrived on retailer's docks early last week) , just waiting on the first retailer to post it as available!
Sound clips? Your opinion/review?
3 band semi-parametric EQ in a distortion pedal is awesome! How wide is the Q?
A clean blend would be even more awesome, though I don't fully understand the depth control.
I read that, yeah, just not sure what it means. Saturates or cleans up the lows? Not sure...not familiar with the Heavy.
The Q is wide - a pretty low number, but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head. The Depth is how much low frequency is allowed in pre gain. This allows you to tighten/loosen up the bass response, especially when distorted, 'cause that's when the lows tend to muddy up.
I actually really dislike clean blends for bass distortion. It's lazy (IMHO) and it makes the distortion sound "separate" from the bass. Both Mark and I wanted a distortion that would sound "cohesive" and "holistic."
Just seeing this edit...that's cool. It's like anything else to me, any feature of a pedal can be implemented well, in a way that works, or in a way that doesn't work - be it a clean blend, voicing, EQ section, whatever. Blends work for me when done right, because they help me get dirty bass sounds into music that isn't heavy, which I'm pretty much doing at all timesI actually really dislike clean blends for bass distortion. Yeah the Depth control is pretty subtle, if you are in E standard you won't get much out of it. But in drop tunings or with extended range guitar and bass it comes in handy.
Unique to the Boneshaker is that each semi-para band is before the last stage of gain so you can actually drive each frequency independently. Don't be afraid to crank those up.
I'll get the frequency ranges from Mark when he gets back from vacation, 'cause I can't remember what they are...![]()
