I was happy. I had a bass I liked. I also had an electric upright I could arco 3 chord slow songs if I had to. All was fine. Now I need to find a 1960's J, a fretless anything that mwahs nice, 13 diferent amp/cab combos for any situation, a nice FX setup I can use or not use depending on my situation, an acoustic 5 string, a custom so fancy no one even me can touch, I also need to find a $30 garage sale squire that sounds as good as your $3000 bass.

Honestly, I might pick up the old P-copy (that I hated) and push it through the house amp next week. Because I want it all. I want to play a bass that does nothing but what my fingers say. Then play something a 2 week amateur could make sing. I don't hate this site, but I find myself wanting more and more the more I see!!!! :D

interesting, being on here has opened up some areas for me that I previously had prejudged myself out of. I never liked P's nor J's for that matter, nor even PJ's. I have a PJ that is my main bass now, and I have a P that I really enjoy playing, Ive tried some different string choices to combat some issues I was having with tone spread across, learned some info on basses that I had already, learned some things about my amps that I have, got some different perspective on others choices and influences and had some laughs with other bassists

My problem is as I get older, every time I see a 1960's Fender bass or amp I remember from my youth I just have to get it. I guess it is vintage GAS that get's me. On the other hand there is very little in the way of vintage bass gear I can actually afford so it's not all bad.

Yeah, I'd say my GAS has increased about 95% since joining TB. I used to only get it once a month, at the music store, or when BASS PLAYER magazine came out. Maybe once in a while on the web, or if I saw cool gear in a band, I would get gassy. Saying that, I think TB has increased my overall interest in the instrument. But man, I'm drooling on bass gear so much, I'm gonna need a bib soon.

I think we need 2 GAS forums. 1 that enables - Share your GAS! and one that offers counseling (a like minded friend to tell you you just can't afford it/have no place to put it/don't really need it). I know I could benefit from both on a daily basis.

[Edit]- And yes, I'm sure that has been suggested many times before, but I' fairly new here.
