Does anyone else name their basses if so what are their names

I named my favorite bass Beathany I was just wondering if anyone else names their basses

Naming is creepy enough. Assigning a bass a gender is almost "see something, say something" territory.

There are 350,000 sailors in the U.S. Navy who refer to their ship as "She" who would disagree with you completely. ;{) (JK)

A bit off topic:

This is my crappy 1980 Giannini Sonic. it's duct taped because a piece of it actually fell off and it's too cheap a guitar to pay a lot of money to fix. I also can't afford to fix it and it's playable anyway.

I call it Noisemaker 5000.

Fender CB-100 Acoustic aka "Grandpa" which is a nod to Metalocalypse

My blue Dingwall NG-2 name is "Smurf." It's a nod to my dad who's favorite color was blue. I'd joking call him papa smurf sometimes because he'd buy just about anything that came in the color blue. Like even the light bulbs in porch lights on my parents house were blue.

My fender jazz basses name is "old school"

Mine are named kind of dumb, but here goes....

My SX P copy is "Number One" because it is my main player.

My Squier Affinity Jazz is "Ged" for Geddy Lee, my bass playing inspiration, and yes I know it isn't a Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz, it's just a tribute (now let the Tenacious D ring in your head!)

My old Ibanez SR480 is named "Ibby" Pretty sure you can guess why...

My 5 string SX Jazz copy is known as "Cat". Computer nerds will get it.

My SX PJ Maple neck copy doesn't have a name. This is probably an indicator of which bass should get the fretless conversion... Probably call it "Flat" as in flat fingerboard after conversion...

My SX PJ Rosewood neck copy, that I bought to do the fretless conversion on, earned a name pretty quickly, "Butters" for the South Park character. He means well, but doesn't often do the right thing, and has been known to get downright dirty without meaning to...

The theme extends to the guitars...

The SX Hawk in candy apple red is of course... "Red".

My BIL's Yamaha acoustic that he leaves at my place gets passed around, and has had lots of beer and tequila spilled on it over the years. He named that one the "Drunken ho".

My BILs black Fender acoustic is just known as "The twanger", not my fault... My burst Fender Acoustic is unnamed. Not sure what to name it really...

Precedent.

Sailors have entrusted their lives to their ships for centuries. If someone started the ship naming trend today out of the blue and without the history, it would be equally disturbing.

I name everything. Basses, fiddles, firearms, vehicles, etc.. It's easy to keep track because I name them all Betty.

I'm not allowed to name pets anymore.

It reminds me I once saw a custom guitar combo amp for sale with generic metal aesthetics and DESTRUCTOR written in the front with a pair of demonic eyes.

Thanks. Yeah, a pretty good bass. Gave it to a high school music teacher who gave it to one of her students. Didn't use it after getting the Jbass.

I named my bass; I call it "my bass". I named my other bass too, I call that one "my bass".

Seriously, I don't even name pets. I mean, what would you call an elderly monkey with most of its fur burned off?

I heard my girlfriend telling a friend the burned up old monkey was called Tom; I didn't even know he had a name. Oh wait, we don't have a monkey. Hmmm.
