I dig it and have seriously considered one though I haven't actually played one. I have a soft spot for Ibanez they make quality stuff and always seem to strive to give bassists something different.
I have been fighting the temptation for a long time. I always end up dissatisfied when I stray from original Fender designs but that one is so beautiful it calls to me.
i have zero experience with them but i admire them every time i see them. good looking ax, IMO. i don't recall anyone here ever being critical of that model for any reason. if i had the need/desire i'd gladly put trust into that ibanez. i'm sure it performs.
I'm a big acoustic bass guy and this thing was almost as nice as my Dean Exoticas, just not quite as versatile.
Right strings, good tone fairly light, looks good, too.
Thanks! I'm really just looking for a good acoustic tone. I play jazz, and it would be nice to have that sound in my playing. Did you happen to adjust the peizo pots? were they noticeable?

Actually, I simply picked it up and plugged it in. Played it for a good fifteen minutes, though.
Probably the nicest sounding bass in Sam Ash that day...I used to try out between 50 and 60 basses a year...and I'm a big fan of flatwounds and tapewounds.
It had a fairly decent upright-like tone, yeah, nothing really sounds like an upright but my Exoticas come close, and the Ibanez was definitely close, too.
If you get the chance to try one out, you might find it hard to walk away from.
I wasn't really looking for a bass that day, but I might've bought it if I'd been more than window shopping.
I'm not really an Ibanez fan, so I don't feel the need to push their products, but they definitely did a good job with that one.
I recently had one for a pretty short amount of time before I moved it out the door. The neck was decent enough, but the body was way too small for me (I'm 6'5") and it just never felt comfortable. The piezo was okay, but not anything much different than most any other piezo I've used. It was on the light-ish side which also doesn't necessarily appeal to me (again, 6'5" ... I like big stuff).
But it was well built and I liked the dark lines on the neck ... if it's going to be a lined fretless I'd rather it be dark. IMO, a typical Ibanez bass (that's a compliment, not meant in any kind of negative way)

That could get me onto Team Ibanez. Plus the added bonus of being able to hypnotize my audience, as promised right there in the copy.
I played one for about half an hour. It was...only ok.
My Ibanez 370 is a better all around fretless for less money. My Godin A4 fretless has a more versatile acoustic sound. My Zeta sounds more like an upright.

I played one of the 5 string versions that they had used at a local shop. Strung with tapewounds it sounded great. Usually I don't like piezo pickups, but with the tone rolled off a bit (and those strings) this one sounded super natural and warm. Nice uprighty kind of vibe. I kinda wanted to take it home but I've already got 2 fretless basses that I hardly ever touch, so I had to leave it behind.

I tried the fretless four, I liked it very much. The one and only reason I didn't buy it was, for me there wasn't enough strings, I'd want 6.
I played through a bunch of standards and it sounded good in that style, specifically with the tone rolled off. Walking, soloing, chording was all easy to do on this instrument.
Yes it does have adjustable trim pots.
Overall I found the SRH500F to be a very comfortable, easy to play, good sounding bass.
The only con for me is it is not available as a 6 string.

I noodled around on one for about 15 minutes last week. Typical Ibanez feel and form, no complaints with the build quality at that price point.
One minor gripe about the fret board if I'm being picky: The side dots aligned with the fret lines, which I normally prefer, but the dots on the surface of the fret board were between the fret lines.

The fretboard dots don't bother me. In fact completely forgot that they were there since the B string hides them so well. At least the way I hold and play it.
