Does anyone know about this bass?

Sound, build quality, value? I'm just curious after seeing it on the bay. I don't recall ever seeing one before (I don't get out much) & just wondered if all y'all had opinions on it.

that's the lefty version of The Cure's first bass player, Dempsey's white guild. check out the Three Imaginary Boys album. not a bad sounding bass by any means.

It's a pre-Fender Guild. The build quality will be very good and I'm sure it'll sound good; the tone will tend to be dark and woody.

They neck dive like crazy. I didn't have a wide strap though when I played one with my old bad (it was the drummer's bass) so a good strap might fix that.

Bet the craftsmanship is very good. Don't know how good the electronics are. Obviously, this is more of collectors item than a working professional bass.

Unless the lefthandedness is a main motivating factor, stay away at that price. Thats what I paid for a brand new B302 fretless... in 1979. And the bass has issues other than the neck dive. But its one heck of a cool looking bass

Vintage early 70's

According to Hans Moust the first year of production for the B-301/302 is 1977. I've got a modified B-301. Cool bass, very well build, not very versatile soundwise. Not a bad price IMHO.

I just sold my white B-302 (the two-pickup version) this week, shipped it today, actually.

Mine was all mahogany, but had a very bright sound to it, and a very clear sound as well. Ric-like almost. Impressive.

Imposing, classic good looks and great build quality throughout, but with a bit of neck-dive by nature of design. That was the only reason I could bear to part with it.

I will miss it. (sigh)

Thanks for the input guys. It's a cool looking bass, but I probably ought to pass on spending more money right now on a bass when what I'm really GASsing for is a 15" cab.

I had a white one- my 1st real bass. I think it has a mahogany body. Big time neck dive! Sound was OK.

I saw some guy in one of the other bands we played with about a year ago, he had one, I thought it sounded nice it had a nice bite to it, I think he went thru a hartke combo if memory serves correct, being that lefties are so hard to come by, I should know. I'd buy it just so no one else can have it, I'm weird like that.....
