does anyone make an 8lb precision bass?

Another Lull vote. Official weight of the bass I owned was 7.5 lbs. It was perfectly balanced but also used Hipshot Ultralights for tuners.
My peavey fury is 7.5lbs. better than any fender P I've played. Ignore the pink one....
i'm so old = all of my bones/parts care!
the "empress wood" (paulownia) suggestions will get you closer to 8 lbs., IMO/IME. and paulownia/empress is abundant and renewable if you care about stuff/issues like that.
get a glarry for the lightweight body and put a neck on it you like --- add whatever lightweight hardware floats your boat and you'd struggle to exceed 7 lbs.!

Fender does. I have a 2019 Vintera P that weighs 8lbs even. They’re out there. I also have a Fender CS ‘51 reissue that weighs 8.5 lbs which is very unusual for a slab bodied P.
It's a 1995 USA made model. Very easy to find on the used market for under $300. I got that one for $60. But I've put a bit of money back into it. Most of the ones I've handled from the 90's are fairly light.
The new import models may be fairly light as well, but I don't have experience with them.
I have a couple Fenders just over 8 lbs. It is luck of the draw, though. I also have a vintage 10lb. Fender p.
I have a couple of P's that I built - OK, the 5 string has a different flavor of pickup, but sonically it's in the same ballpark. Neither of them is 8 pounds - that'd be heavy for a single pickup bass, the way I look at it.

You will sometimes see people talking about how Warmoth stuff is heavy. Both of these basses are Warmoth bodies and necks.

Warmoth can get you a body and neck that will get you the weight you want.
My Warmoth 5 string with hipshot ultralight tuners is less than 9 pounds. I chose the lightest swamp ash body they had in stock; they sent me the second lightest swamp ash body they had in stock with an apology as the first body apparently had structural issues and didn't pass their QC.
Edit: I can't remember the exact weight as I've had if for several years now, but I think it's right around 8 pounds even.
Second Edit: I looked up my old post when I built the Warmoth. It's 7 pounds even. 5 string P bass body with J pickups.

I recently picked up a used 2017 Fender Postmodern that’s right at 8lbs.
I also have an all original ‘75 that’s all of 11lbs.
I love ‘em both - but my shoulder loves the Postmodern

Not a P bass, but my G&L Empress Jazz weighs in at exactly 7 lbs. I'm sure you could get a similar weight P bass
why are they all 9.5lbs?
there are plenty of short scale p basses that are that light. The squire mini p, the traveler p bass is normally around 7 lbs but it’s headless and 32” scale. It often becomes a balance/neck dive issue though for 34” scale p basses to be super light.why are they all 9.5lbs?
I make 8 pound P's and Jazz's. These are all 8 pounds and balanced.
Bluusman vintage basses are known for being quite light, maybe Olinto as well.
My Vintera is 8.3 lbs.
Changing the Tuners to lightweight ones would bring it very close to 8, but it's light enough for my back as is.

Maple is great structurally. Some pieces are heavier than others. Some are wonderfully light. Mike Lull and Roger Sadowsky have likely sold a lot more maple back to their supplier than Fender has despite Fender’s exponentially higher production quantities.
Use a light neck and then you can use a light body. A light body with a heavy neck is pointless.
