Does anyone own one?

Does anyone here actually own and play a 8 or 12 string bass, double or tripple strung that is. They are a really cool concept and have a cool sound but it seems like a waste to buy one, its like having a chorus effect on constantly. I don't see any practical use for them.

I play 10,12 and 15 (the 12 and 15 are tripled) string and they are as useful as your imagination will allow.

Yes I do but their not mixed and it's fretless.

Thanks! I've been out there. I remember seeing that one. You've got an amazing collection of ERB's! I've sort of settled in to the 5-string and I have the feeling that if I ever move on to a 6, that will be about all I can handle, but I'm looking forward to working on one some day! I tip my hat to you! Takes some real dedication to do what you do! I'm envious!

I'm lookin to pick up an 8 very soon. Just gives a self chorusing sound that really thickens the mix. Playing with two guitarists, there's not much room, but somehow Jeff Ament works his 12 string in with 2-3 guitarists in Pearl Jam.

Her'es my '80s Hamer B12S, I spent the '90s touring the country in a 3-piece band playing this and another just like it in black. They were all I played. Really filled out the sound of the band.

I'd love to add a double-strung bass to my collection. The repairman/ luthier at the local shop is currently building up a 8 string for a local guy. Mostly Warmoth parts, but it's got three pickups: Dimarzio Model 1 (their big 'Sheehan' humbucker), and then Dimarzio P & J. It's wired up mono. I got to noodle on it for a few minutes. Huge sound. I also play 12 string guitar, so I know what's up.

there's nothing wrong with your eyes that's a blue 8(none doubled)string at the top of the page but if you scroll down there's a pic of the 15 string.
