Does color matter to you??

I much prefer translucent colors or 'bursts rather than opaque because I like seeing the wood grain. Not an absolute deal breaker if the bass feels and sounds great, but it's what I prefer, all else being equal.

For damn sure, especially with sunburst finishes. I'm particularly picky with the shades of red and yellow used on sunburst finishes. I absolutely hate it when the yellow looks too orange and when there's not enough red either. Makes them look like ugly tobacco bursts. Any other color either has to be black or dark red.

If I don't like the way a bass looks, I'm probably not going to pick it up. So color matters to me. And if I do pick up a bass, and it feels like it's 9 lbs or heavier, I'm putting it down. That's just me. I have seen nice Jazz basses for sale that were a natural finish on an Ash body and passed on them. I just don't like the look. Never owned one, never will.
