...nobody is going to "take a couple lessons with Dalla Torre" and get it down. Where plenty of people have taken some lessons and worked through the Simandl book and learned how to play in a solid way.
I'd imagine that anyone who would be interested enough to find a 1-2-3-4 DB teacher (not easy) would probably take more than "a couple lessons". But that's beside the point. Surely someone who takes just a few lessons with a 1-2-3-4 teacher will be in the same position as someone else who takes a few with a 1-2-4 teacher, assuming they both have the appropriate method books?

...The hard fact is it just isn't the reality yet.
If 'the reality' you speak if is the same reality that I'm in, then you're mistaken. I promise those videos of players using the method I'm talking about are not fake. They really play 1-2-3-4 on DB. Really. They've learned that method in this plane of existence (to my knowledge). Some of them statistically must have played 1-2-3-4 EB fingerings before. It is a reality. Isn't it? This is getting trippy. Wait. Are those my feet?

A small handful of great classical players still makes it far less proven than the earlier methods - therefore still less recommendable.
No. It makes it newer. And harder to find a teacher. That's all.

You four-finger zealots are a bit like Steve Jobs betting on flash being obsolete, Jobs may have been right, but Flash outlasted him!
Four finger zealot?? Moi?? I play 1-2-4. And I like it just fine.
I'm not sure this discussion is analogous to Steve Jobs and Flash... But if we're heading down the 'it's a bit like' road, I'm in. Here goes.
You're argument, it's a bit like a chocolate cake, but with a cherry filling and.... No... Sorry. I just can't do it.
Seriously though, you seem to be arguing the same points over and over, that it 'cant be recommended' that it 'isn't proven' and that no EB player is going to bother to do it properly, so it's wrong to let people know that it's possible.
I've already given my counter argument to all these points, so if you've nothing new to bring, I think you've made your opinion clear. Maybe we can get back to some of the more interesting aspects of the thread, i think it's gone beyond and become more interesting than its original intention (which i suppose was to warn EB players of not expecting 1-2-3-4 to work 'instantly'?)
Maybe we should start a new thread titled: 'The possibilities of using EB 1-2-3-4 fingering on DB'? That might lead to a more balanced discussion? Because you declared it impossible in the title, you seem to be taking differing opinions personally, and there's really no need to.
Also, you've got to give me a detailed description of a pi**ing match. Seriously. Please.
