Were it my bass, I wouldn't be too concerned. This stuff happens. But, I empathize with your concern and would suggest taking some wood filler and a sharpie to it. That should help.

I tried that once. Sharpies have a very odd purplish shiny finish when you put them on basses. Believe me I tried-- and was NOT happy.

Have bought maybe 10-12 guitars over the years new.

I despise denting my used ones just as much a new one.

I rarely have dinged any instruments over the years. Something on the back of a neck would drive me bonkers.

I still have the majority of those new purchases without dings or dents, but there is wear and patina.

HOWEVER...........for some reason, I get far more anxious and feel bad about playing an instrument that has gone 10 years without an issue. More about it never being dinged than the actual ding.

Crazy I know.

They are mine and they are tools, but they are my favorite tools.

I like to think all the girls in high school had that freckle, which is why I was always on the market. Lack of confidence, and all that.
