Does this bass make me look fat?

Did a gig this past week where we played all Beatles tunes. I bought this Hofner just to play these kinds of gigs. While I love the sound and look of the bass itself, I just can't get comfortable playing it. I'm a big guy (6'3", 270) with big hands and it feels like I'm playing a toy. I think I look somewhat silly playing it too...

Do a couple of gigs on a Kala Ubass and the Hofner will feel ginormous.

You don't look silly at all.
This was from that Beatles set you did, right?
Right tool for the job, anyone who cares about music will recognise that.
Sure it looks more guitar-sized than bass, but to my thinking that should only get folks thinking 'Wow, where's the awesome bass sound coming from?'

Now what you should really do is, if you're feeling a bit silly, embrace it. Paint that bass hot pink, get yourself a clown costume and rock out!

Now, the short sleeve button down and necktie isn't exactly rock n roll....
Upon first glance at the picture, I wondered for a second if there was a pocket protector in play there. Then I realized it was the strap...

I get the B&W look to go with the overall theme, but that shirt/strap configuration might be worth a tiny tweak. :D

The bass looks good. Nothing wrong with a small instrument on a big guy and vise versa. I'm 6'2" and 220 and my #1 is a Mustang, and I admit that I got full size bass partly because I thought it would look better, but it lives under my bed, waiting for a band that needs a different sound or tunes low, while I continue to gig with the Mustang.

I’m 6’1” and 220lbs and for a while I felt the same way playing a small bodied medium scale bass. I wasn’t nearly brave enough to ask this crowd for their opinions, but I figured it was safe to ask my wife.

ME: “Does this bass make me look fat?”

WIFE: Hmmmm? (She looks at me, squinting) “No, I don’t thinks it’s the bass.”

P.S. —. You look just fine playing the Hofner!
