Does this bass make me look fat?

Just my opinion, but I've never been a fan of the "violin" bass shape. If I get a hollow body (and I'm sure I will) it will be something like the Ibanez AGB:

But if you're playing a Beatles set, the Hofner is definately the right bass. And if you were in a full-on Beatles tribute band I'd say it was mandatory. But I'm pretty sure the Beatles didn't use Beatles-branded guitar straps o_O. And nobody should ever wear a tie with a short-sleeved shirt .

It's the curse of big guys, but not much you can do. I'm 6'4", around 200 lbs., and some of my shorties look small on me. Bear-on-a-bicycle effect. When I play my Hofner violins, I bend at the knees and hunch over a bit to reduce the effect.

It also helps when I get down to my fighting weight of 185 and wear tighter clothing, but easier said than done. I like burgers and ice cream.

But it's a Beatles trib, so you dare not play anything else besides a Ric.

You look fine! Also I’m 6’5 and 275 so I know the big man/small guitar struggle very well haha!
Did a gig this past week where we played all Beatles tunes. I bought this Hofner just to play these kinds of gigs. While I love the sound and look of the bass itself, I just can't get comfortable playing it. I'm a big guy (6'3", 270) with big hands and it feels like I'm playing a toy. I think I look somewhat silly playing it too...

You don't look silly at all.
This was from that Beatles set you did, right?
Right tool for the job, anyone who cares about music will recognise that.
Sure it looks more guitar-sized than bass, but to my thinking that should only get folks thinking 'Wow, where's the awesome bass sound coming from?'

Now what you should really do is, if you're feeling a bit silly, embrace it. Paint that bass hot pink, get yourself a clown costume and rock out!
This poopie right here.

Standing out is the name of the game. Context be dammed. Get that low end out.

OMG!!! This is horrible!
That bass is nothing but a homewrecker to your self esteem! It's destroying both your ego and your id, and is causing irreparable harm to your future psychological balance.

Not to worry, though, I'm here to help.
Immediately divest yourself of this albatross to your psyche. Take it off, box it up, (ehhh.....give it a good clean up), and send it to me.
I know...I know, it could possibly do equal damage to me, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. Any sacrifice for a fellow TB'er.

I realize your hurting, but together, I promise, we'll get you through this crisis. :D:thumbsup::whistle:
