I think you need to talk to them and ask them what they are thinking. If you're willing, tell them you'll even hang around just as a hired gun for awhile, so long as you're getting your expenses covered in addition to a gig's fair share of pay.

Basically disagree with all of this. Pros cover their expenses out of their pay which includes per diem if applicable. I don't even understand what the last sentence means. A gig's 'fair share of pay'? Hired guns don't get paid 'a gig's fair share of pay'. As a sideman, what the band is getting paid is none of your business.

Do not 'talk to them and ask them what they're thinking'. Have your meeting with the agent and take the work they offer as long as it's optimal for you to do so. That's what pros do.

It's always been my experience that you agree to the pay they offer you and it doesn't matter what the band is paid as a whole. In fact, it is not acceptable to ask. They have paid me no less than two bills every show and I know he gets more than that times the number of members, but I have someone that gets me drinks and food whenever I want, almost always have a hotel room even if it's not needed, and for the gigs out of state, they are covering leasing a tour bus, so I wouldn't think I have any reason to push that kind of thing.

This sounds like the right attitude. Just like any other job, you negotiate your salary, and the company's revenue or CEO's pay aren't a direct concern of your own.
