Greetings,

this sounds like funny question maybe but i was wondering if theres any tricks for dialing in bass effects with a heavily distored guitar that doesnt cause to much obnoxiousness.

i have access to a decent multi effects unit. i havent played with it that much and get lost in overdrive world if that makes sense.

the material im working with is sort of heavy gypsy ish instumental type of stuff - if that helps... i dont want to sound completely like angry bees.

erm........what is obnoxious to you?

the high end or the mids or the low end?

the exh graphic fuzz lets you dial in a tone pretty precisely

I dont like the mids I beleive. Also when I get on the strings i dont want too much feedback im thinking.

What kind of rig are you playing? Bass/Amp.

its not the best thing in the world....an old ish fender 4 12 with a 150 watt peavy head meant for a pa. bass is p bass with active emgs.

sometimes i get the bee sound without the effects pedal lol.

i just read something on here about getting a distorted sound when its time to go about changing the 9v battery for active pickups. im going to try that asap.

Try a new head.
A decent head with EQ makes a world of difference. Then you can sculpt your tone with pedals.

thank you for the advice

actually yea i was just messing with the limited equalizer today on the multi effects pedal i have and tho its not exactly easy to use, i managed to dial out a large brunt of the mids that i wasnt looking to achieve with the distortion on. its a lil cheesy sounding IMO - but itll do for now. so far ive programmed a little bit of chorus, a delay effect, and some minor distortion on the pedal so ill try those with my guitar player and see how it turns out.
