Dorm Bass?

I have considered an SX, but I will be trying to get into one of the Jazz Ensembles @ Purdue, and I want my main performance bass to be something a little better.

This summer for the Stars and Stripes Concert and well-if it gets made up-the fretless bass that we're using is an SX Fretless Jazz 5 [actually-it's mine].

You'll love playing with the Jazz Ensembles there [Purdue] i think his name is Toshio, the drummer for the #1 band, is really killer. Heck-the whole summer band blew me away so i'm sure you'll be in heaven. :bassist:

I'd take the Warmoth. I'm taking my Ray5 to college , and it already has plenty of dings-i realize w/a natural finish and a spalted top at that it would be able to get knocked around a bit more. However, if you're careful with it and lay down ground rules with your roommate-i don't think it should be a big deal. The catch w/me bringing my Ray5 is-i'm also bringing at least a fretless SX 5 too.

That's all

I never had a problem with my gear in college. Hard case, locked and then stowed in your closet will do the trick.

While theft in the dorms did happen, it was usually theft of convenience...you know, roommate down the hall, door left unlocked and open and valuble, easy to carry stuff in the open. If you're responsible, you'll have no problems and you'll want to kill yerself later if you sell your favorite bass for a 'disposable' one.
