I have 2 coats of finish on so far, didn't seem worthy of new pictures. I didn't get another coat on yesterday, but cyber Monday shopping saved me a whole $5 on a new can of EM6000 for my bass at least. Then they charged $18 something for shipping...

I liked the choice of music very much on this one as well.

Their bassist is the one I made the 5 string buckeye burl bass for. The recording was before he got the bass, but I wanted to at least use one of their songs on a video.

Fourth coat. Might be the last? Not sure. The tamarind is soaking in more than the rest of the woods. I think it's fine on the top. I'm just not sure about the headstock face yet.

Do you trust that small portion of wood to keep the neck in position? I know it's not a bass so tension and measurements are waaay smaller but I'd be scared. I know many guitars are like that for the need to place the pickup against the fingerboard but to me it's kinda dangerous. I liked the video though, thanks for posting!

The other guitar is exactly the same and is holding up fine. As long as no one decides to slam the guitar on a stage I think it'll be okay

I forgot to post pictures, but after the previous coat dried I did need more finish on the headstock. Still might, I'll have to check again. This part of the wood was very thirsty.

Which is strange because it came from one of the same boards as the top wood which is covering much nicer.

And the back looks done.

Haven't watched video #8 yet, but #7 was great! Your work methods are impressive. Seems like you put as much thought into how you are going to build as what you are going to build and that's how it should be. An idea is only as good as the execution!

Since you are into edge tools and must have some sharpening stones, you might want to try to make a couple flexible scrapers like I made here: Vintage Modern Build . I think you could save a lot of time sanding the body/neck joint, back cutaway, neck shaft and some other spots. Have you thought about using a small draw knife on the cutaway? Not sure if it would be any better than the gouge you are using but it's the first tool that comes to my mind when I see the job.

The gouge works great for me. I have a curved scraper (not flexible) and I like it, but I always have to sand afterwards to smooth out ridges. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.
