Hahah, I'm a copycat by nature. I run 2 small businesses but neither one is a *purely* original idea. But then again one could argue the same about Leo Fender's MM idea.
I see a difference between 'feeling right' about owning something like this and 'pride of ownership'. I'd be PROUD to own a real MM instead of a copy. I wouldn't feel morally bankrupt owning a copy of an MM, tho.
Forgive my ignorance as well as the risk of ruining another outlet for MM copies, why are Jay Turser MM copies allowed to be sold in the USA if SX/Douglas are not?
jay turser probably has a deal saying that ebmm gets (insert amount here)% of each sale jay turser makes from the mm ripoffs

Ahh, that makes sense. While I appreciate the % licensing idea, it didn't seem like they'd be able to turn any profit at the prices they charge. Thanks!
I bought one. We'll see if it actually makes it, and what the heck it sounds like. Another 100 for better wiring and a better pickup would probably make it sound pretty good.
That makes sense...it's still kinda sad IMO. I really doubt people who want Stingrays are seeing the Douglas one and thinking, "oh just as good as the real thing!" I wonder how much money EB is really losing because people are buying these instead of OLPs.

Indeed. I certainly see that side of the equation as well. I guess I just find it a bit more intriguing that EB is going after these guys while Fender and Gibson seem to be ignoring them even though they have far more Fender and Gibson copies being sold.
