So I am currently downsizing my rig. I only intended on selling my cabs at first but now I am rethinking my position on keeping my current head. All the cabs that I am looking at handle up to 600 watts and my head well its a 2001 rb.
My game plan so far is to buy (1) 2x12 cab but maybe I should look at a new head too. I just like having the power there for any future use.
Any words of wisdom from you tbers?
I just went through the down sizing stage also.
My solution...
A G.K. MB2-500 head, rated at 350 watts at 8 ohms, 500 watts at 4 ohms, 580 watts full power at 4 ohms. It's 3.8 lbs.of pure dynamite!
Cabinets..."two", 8 ohm, 500 watt cap. ea., Avatar Neo 210 cabs used as a vertical stacked 410 rig. Each cab weighs in around 40 lbs. ea.
Use one cab for rehearsals/small gigs, two when more volume and coverage is needed.
The 410 vertical stack gives the height advantages of a 810 cab but with a small foot-print on stage. It gets the speakers up closer to your ears, has better mid dispersion, much better projection, solves most comb problems, and is LOUD!
My "whole" rig now weighs in at roughfully what my old SVT head alone weighed!
