Double Bass DPA 4099 mounting system

Serious GAS attack for the DPA 4099...but I still wonder about the most suitable mount for bass

I read from an ealier thread that Rufus Reid use the guitar version and mount the guitar clip on the tailpiece (I don't really see how ...)

Any other user's experience ??? Does someone try the violin or sax clip ???

yesterday the soundman mounted on my bass the DPA 4099 with the sax clip(he said that, but this morning I saw the DPA site and to me it looks like the violin clip).
It was mounted on the G side f and was pointed in the middle of the armonic table, north of the bridge, under the string.
The sound and all was good.

Few days ago a soundman mounted the guitar clip on the bridge of my bass! It was very easy to mount. Sound was amazing, now this is my favorite mic for live use, and there was no feedback at higher volume and close monitoring. That was a mic only gig with Vocal + Guitar.

is there any chance of the mic picking up the vibrations from the string afterlength? also, does the violin clip go small enough to just clip it to one bridge foot? does dpa believe that the violin mounting clip is the best one for upright bass?

a guy in Copenhagen made a mount for the old B&K which is now a DPA (forgot the model #). He used large rubber bands an a small piece of PVC which held the mic between the bridge feet. Best live mic sound I've ever gotten. Can't wait to try the 4099. If it sounds as good or better than my ATM 35 but with better rejection I'll have to get one. Just don't tell my wife-----

mine is on the way. after chatting with mike morgan at dpa, it seems the violin mount is the way to go. [email protected]

apparently chris wood is using one and stanley clarke has one on the way ... both total slackers.

of course its been mentioned that rufus is using one, and i believe that ive seen one attached to patitucci's bass too, just couldnt really tell how or where it was clipped
