I just put some DR Sunbeam flatwounds on my fretless corvette. I made the bass come alive. I love the feel of them too. Just awesome, I'm sold on them.
DR Sunbeam Flats exist?! I can't find em anywhere!

I've never hears of Sunbeam flats either. I know they make HiBeam stainless flats but never heard of sunbeams in flats.
New product maybe?
Dunno,
God Bless, Ray
Yes, I'm seriously thinking about switching from Rotos to Lo-Riders on all my basses (onl one one just now.) They have about the same characteristics but have a better zing, especially on the long term.
UPDATE:
So I after years of using Rotosounds I tried the DR extralife lite guage stings (40-100)
which transformed my Jazz into one of the best sounding basses I ever laid my hands on
I had just completed a parts bass:

and I slapped on some generic strings that came with the bass purchase
It sounded okay but not great
felt like how my old Jazz used to play
I struggled with slap and the tension was too stiff for me
I realized that I am a 40 guage player NOT a standard 45-105
So I got some DR HI BEAMS Lites (40-95)
I never played a 95 guage E string so I was a little worried
Does it go as deep as a 105? hardly BUT it goes deep enough especially on a P Bass
however these DR string again worked its magic!! Right after I put the DRs on
this bass sounded so well and played so easily that it belied its sub $200 price tag
Slap was effortless
Same with tapping
I did dial back the tone knob for fingerstyle and pickstyle
but the action was instantly "perfect"
I don't know how it does that
no buzz low action ..its uncanny
I think DRs are going to be my choice for fretted basses from now on
The Rotosounds? Well they are my choice for my fretless all the way (45-105)
