DR convert

UPDATE:

So I after years of using Rotosounds I tried the DR extralife lite guage stings (40-100)
which transformed my Jazz into one of the best sounding basses I ever laid my hands on

I had just completed a parts bass:

and I slapped on some generic strings that came with the bass purchase
It sounded okay but not great
felt like how my old Jazz used to play
I struggled with slap and the tension was too stiff for me
I realized that I am a 40 guage player NOT a standard 45-105

So I got some DR HI BEAMS Lites (40-95)
I never played a 95 guage E string so I was a little worried
Does it go as deep as a 105? hardly BUT it goes deep enough especially on a P Bass
however these DR string again worked its magic!! Right after I put the DRs on
this bass sounded so well and played so easily that it belied its sub $200 price tag

Slap was effortless
Same with tapping
I did dial back the tone knob for fingerstyle and pickstyle
but the action was instantly "perfect"
I don't know how it does that
no buzz low action ..its uncanny

I think DRs are going to be my choice for fretted basses from now on

The Rotosounds? Well they are my choice for my fretless all the way (45-105)

I know you said you're a DR convert for fretted. For fretless, I can't recommend their Sunbeam Nickel enough. As a matter of fact, I use them on all my basses except my Ken Smith 6'er.....which has High Beams on it.

.....DR's are WONDERFUL strings. Stainless vs. nickel, round core vs. hex....they make a string for every bass and technique my line up.
