Just wish DR would get with the times and make something heavier than a .125 on the B string on all their sets, I'll still have to try them though.

I haven't tried them on my bass yet, but I have them on my acoustic guitar. Dragon Skin is an accurate description, probably the most durable coating I've seen. No fraying like I usually get with coated strings.

I agree. Don't know why they just have one available gauge in the dragon skins right now. I might try them anyway.

I don't understand how coating strings can increase volume and articulation (coatings typically attenuate vibration). But, if Dragon-Skin strings can reduce the annoying overtones endemic to so many round-wounds, that would be worthy of celebration.

Im a BIG DR fan but not their coated strings. Ive tried a few sets and all give me this rug burn type experience after playing for short periods..Thy feel sticky..Hope these are an improvement.

Hmm, a while back I was a told by a guitarist that the Silver Stars actually look as if they are colored white and lost interest. I guess I'll have to check them out now, thanks for the info!

They look like a brighter silver. Atleast the bass ones I have, id need to look at the guitar ones.

Ill post a pic next to a standard sunbeam as well as one of the dragon skin.

Silver Stars are pretty white. No more than Elixirs though really.

I guess I can see how they can look "White" when compared to other strings.

If you ever took a look at some Silver Bullion these are about the same color.

They look like a very bright pure silver color...

I may have the older, non K3 Silver Stars..mine do look whiter than those.

I haven't seen the non-K3 silver stars. I know the coating has been improved...

I have seen the difference between the Red Devils in K3 and non-K3... The K3 is much brighter, while the non is a darker shade.

The Dragon Skins certainly sound interesting. Do they feel a lot smoother than the average steel string? Might try a set someday on a funk/ slap bass.

The coating is supposed to protect the strings from things like hand sweat, grime, etc. thus extending the life of the strings.

I wish I could buy the dragon skins and silver stars as singles.
