"point by point" ?
not to sound rude, but how about you buy all of them and do your own eval?
strings are so personal... even if someone did a "point by point" - that person may 'hear' things, or 'describe' things different then you.

DR Dragon Skin!!!

Have you considered the new Elixir Stainless Steel? Just strung up my 55-02 with them and I'm very happy.
LOL at DR's not fitting fenders. Ive been using DRs on fenders since 98. Never had a single problem.
Ever think you could have screwed up the installation?
It happened to me once and I ended up cutting a brand new string by accident. An idiot move and totally my fault. I told my buddy at the local store and he called up DR, told them the story, and they sent me a new string free of charge. Great company.

well I really like my dragonskins, until I had to gig with them. This may only be a problem I am having but when my hands got the slightest bit sweaty my plucking fingers would stick to the strings, felt weird and would make me miss a beat real quick,. I made ot through the weekend with them but will be going back to UN coated!
Ps. These DR dragonskins were on my american fender p bass, also loved the DR sunbeams on the same bass, so I dont know why someone would think they dont fit fenders, I had them both strung through body also!

you think im made of money? thats what the internet is for. i only currently own a 6 string bass, so everything is extra expensive. i hardly have the money to keep this internet connection going, let alone try every kind of strings on earth.
they dont make them in 6 string. if/when i end up with another 5 string, i'll try those.
provided your pickups play well with them, you just described elixirs.

There isn't much to screw up? How you wrap a string doesn't change the distance from the bridge saddle to the tuner peg. See: the length of the string at tension. Maybe the Japanese Jaguars have a weird distance to the tuner peg, I guess I assumed a fender was a fender as far as that sort of thing goes. Jaguars do have really thick diameter tuner pegs...
*when my SGD Sidewinders arrive for my SRT, I may decide that I don't like them with Dragon skins. If that is the case, I will remount the dragon skins E string onto the Jaguar and take some pictures. I didn't cut the string down any to get it onto the Ibanez, so its the same length.
It may not be this thread, but in some comparison thread here, someone posted a video of elixirs vs dragons skins on an Ibanez Groovline bass.
I decided to order a set from eBay, including shipping it still costs $0.5US less than regular Hi-Beams cost at a retail store here. I'll throw them on my StingRay and see how long they survive.
ANYONE PLAYING THE LOW B TUNED TO "A" not sure is a 125 would be too loose dropped a whole step ?
in stainless? they arent listed on the website and after emailing them about it, they said they arent currently making a high C string.
which i like. a lot. but if the dragon skin has MORE of that, then i will convert.

we've gotten our conversations crossed. elixir isnt making 6 string stainless. DR definitely does.

I just got the Dragon Skins in the mail, strapped them on my StingRay. Love the fresh-string zing. I'll see how they sound after a week of break-in.
Regarding the 'stickiness' - I could feel it from the first second. Picking with my fingers make them tips of the fingers feel dry. It hasn't bothered me yet...

it did not bother me either until i was dripping with sweat under hot stage lights. I loved them for playing at home and practice though!
FWIW I've stopped using Dragon Skins. The feel and tone just isn't all that great. Rougher then regular Hi-Beams, and sticky. Also, they sound like very broken in Hi-Beams, and do stay that way for a while (a good thing) - but they sound horrible for slap if your a slapper... the feel is overall off putting. Also - Hi-Beams last a long time as is. After the initial new string zing is gone, they settle into a still very much lively string.

i restrung both my stingray 5 and ray 35 with these yesterday and love them, i have been all about hi beams and fat beams for years. these have a great tight punchy tone with tons of everything you want. (lows, mids, and high's) but they are somewhat... tamed. unlike some SS strings.
has anyone who runs the 5 string set noticed that the B string is a darker color than the rest??? strange.
