I've never seen one of those bridges - I really don't know.
A ball end retention hole can be enlarged to as big as 3/16 (.18) and still hold a string perfectly, but I can't imagine you want to mess with your bass in that way.

How is the midrange? I play in standard (BEADG) tuning. On my Sadowsky 5 I generally play mostly on the bridge pickup with a VERY light touch, and I don't like a scooped sound. Do these strings sing on the high notes?
For standard tuning, normal to light-ish gauge, should I be looking at CircleK? Or are they really only for heavy gauge down-tuning?

They are most definitely good for standard tuning. When I put my first set on, not only did I notice the change in clarity of notes, but the pianist and guitarist did too (I was doing a theatre run).
I feel like a Circle K Cheerleader, but Skip is dead on. After playing a couple of sets of Ks, I went back to my old brand of string for a run. After a week of playing on them, I ordered a set of Ks and switched strings. For me, they are THE string to use, period.
I got a .130 today to try BEAD detuned 1/2 step. And it self destructed in the same way before I even got it near A#. I am very dissappointed . It cost me $15 plus $6.95 shipping for one lousy string , all for nothing. The worst part is I file my bone nut for the string size change too. I wont be buying those strings again. I will stick with SIT strings , never had a problem.
Bummer man, did you have the same problem with the actual gauge of the string eventually winding around the tuner? Maybe these are designed for 35" scale? I don't know... I think I'm going to order a set of LaBella Hard Rockin' Steels 45-65-85-105-128, take the B and mix it with the other three DDT strings.
strings on round cores will unravel if you don't crimp them. I'm unsure if the Dr detuners are round core strings, but it's just safer to crimp all dr's.
Anyone play these DDTs long enough to get a feeling for what find of last they have? I am bummed that I just bought 4 sets of strings. These DDTs sound like what I am looking for.
DR needs to fix the problem with B strings being wrapped too long for standard 4 strings. That's what the set is designed for, its going to need to work :scowl:
You'd think they'd make a set for one of the more common drop tunings....drop D.

Nope it works just fine. The fat part of the string stops juuuuuust as its about to wrap around the peg.
I just confirmed they're fine on a Thumb NT 5 as well
