DR New drop tune strings!

I've always been a huge fan of hi-beams on my 4 strings, but on 5's DRs have only worked out on certain basses for me. I'm curious to see if these will have more stable Bs. I would assume they are meant to be attacked with a pick, which is one place DR B's fall apart for me.

Burlington and pickles please let me know how you like the 115. That is the set Im currently looking at.
Almost got a set of these before they were released last week. But decided to get the Black beauties instead, I don't like heavy gauge strings
Interesting. I used SS LoRiders for years for down (not drop) tuning my BEAD basses. The only reason I stopped using them was problems with the 130 low B.
Now they finally started making a 135. Yay! Does it work?
The 65 - 125 set is just a light BEAD set. Too light to tune down.
The 55 - 115 is for D standard, and might even be OK for death metal standard D flat tuning. It's almost impossible to find a 115. That'll be my first stop.
I'd still like to know more, i.e. if they're round or hex core. I need to go an extra gauge heavier for floppy roundcore strings.

I just strung up my roscoe beck 5 with the 45-125 set. DR finally figured out how to make a B string I like
These are seriously amazing strings. Taking them out of the pack you know they're different than other DRs because they are ultra flexible like LaBella's tapered strings. Maybe even more flexible than that, they're like a wet noodle when not under tension.
Strung up, they don't sound like other DR strings either, hard to describe but they don't have either the aggressive clank of a lo-rider or the complex shimmer of a hi-beam. They're more clear, open, and to-the-point sounding, but still do sound like a DR more or less. Now for the good part -- pick up a pick and start hammering them ... they sound killer!!! Big, growly, and true. The B string plays in tune all the way up the neck and has none of the "ring" that I hear and hate in all other DR B strings.
A little destructive testing of the clippings shows they are a single wrap on a hex core, and its almost impossible to get the winding to separate to figure that out.
I just ordered 3 more sets to try on my other 5'ers. These are staying on the RBV!!!

Just wanted to clarify, the G string is a single wrap, the other strings have additional layers of wrap.

These aren't drop tune sets. They'll let you do non-standard registers, but aren't balanced for the dropped whole step.

This is my first post!
I play a MM5 StingRay/single humbucker in a metal band. Tunings are C & A#. I tune up all the strings a half step for for the C tunes then I'll tune down the low C to A# for the songs in that tuning.
I use DR-Hi Beams-finger style, between the pickup and bridge. I'll also lightly touch my pinkie finger to the saddle to slightly dampin the A# from getting to "flappy" in some of the more aggessive parts.
Anyways what I'm saying is that I use DR-5 Hi-Beams, I've tried many brands and these are my fav's.

Not to sound like an echo but I've been playing some Mastodon and they play in drop A sometimes, just wondering how this is possible and if these strings could cover it?

Drop C for a 4 string from my experience is hit and miss. Regardless of playing style, your gonna get flap and buzz. I've seen Victor Wooten use a hair tie up just over the "nut" 1st fret side to control buzz, but I don't think he was in that low of tuning.
As for Mastodon playing in A, you can try raising the saddle a bit or better yet take it to your local music shop/pro for a set up for that tuning.

Yeah, I know I'm gonna get some buzz, I just wanna try to eliminate all of that. I'm planning on adding some slight overdrive, so maybe that'll help cover that up a bit. Would maybe a 5 string set on my 4 string tuned to CGCF work better? I know the guy from despised Icon does it with his Rebop 4, and he has killer tone.
I'm gonna try that hair tie suggestion tomorrow, and I'll report back and let you know how it works...
