DR Tension

I have been playing DR Red Devils for a couple months and I love the tone and feel to the string expet i find the strings to a bit to tight. I have been playing 45-65-85-105, I could go to a lighter gauge but i love the feel of the A and E strings. What DR string has somewhat of the same tone as the red devils(the string don't have to be coated) exept are a little less tence.

Is it? I've had a set on my bass for almost a year. Compared to D'addario halfwounds, Fender flatwounds, Elixers, GHS Boomers, and other random nickle strings, the Lo-riders take the cake for low tension.

Are they the lowest of the low? Maybe not, I haven't tried everything.

It might be the coating that makes your string a bit tighter, since the red devils actually are Hi Beams (afaik). You should try a regular set of DR Hi beams. They are VERY low tensioned.

you compare to some tight sets!
fender flats are super tight strings. boomers in 45-105 are on the tighter side, too. DR lo-riders are about average for a 45-105 set, probably a little unflexible feel-wise.

Hi beams are nicely flexible in 45-105 and very very nice in 40-100.

in the DR lineup, lo riders are the tightest.

+1 on the Sunnies. At 105, they have a nice medium to low tension and a warmish tone (for roundwounds.):) They are the only roundwound string I use.

Im still a bit confused, I have been recommended to try Sunbeams, Hi beams and Lo- riders. I like how the tone of coated strings are mellow when played finger style but then you can raelly bring out the brightness when you slap. I find the bottom strings to tight to really play anything with some speed.

Then I'd start with Sunbeams. High Beams are brighter so the fingerstyle sound may not be for you. And the Lo-Riders are higher tension compared to Sunbeams.
