DR with Warwick

Hey all...we have recommended quite frequently using the LONG NECKS on 5 strings Warwicks as the tapered end will work nicely with their types of bridge set-ups.
Or if you wish, you could custom order a regular HI BEAM or LO RIDER 4 string with a tapered B. Many US retailers order them from us like that, and we consider it a 'custom' set, though we don't charge any extra for doing that.
Hope that helps.
Anthony

Is there really a difference between the Lo-riders and the Long Necks other than the fact that Long Necks are longer and come with a tapered B?

A 'Tapered' string is one where the winding from the ball end is smaller in diameter than the rest of the string length to allow less mass across the bridge. Some basses/ bridges work better with this style of string construction due to either a sharp angle or other tonal influences. Our taper is at 2.75" from the edge of the ball end.
We call our tapered strings 'Long Necks' for a very silly reason.
In the old days, we used to put stickers on all of our different sets. For some reason, someone here liked the idea of a little giraffe sticker on the box. It also connotes the shape of the string, much like a 'long neck' (usually beer) bottle which has a tapered look to it. The idiosyncracies of our company.
