"Asian" is acceptable, "East Asian" might be better depending on context. "Japanese" is applicable here, since we know the designer is Japanese, and their design culture is distinct from the design cultures of other East Asian countries. "Oriental" has meanings associated with it which might not be what you mean, but people who don't know you well enough won't know you don't mean it.

Huge fan of Japanese craftsmanship but this is...hideous! The rectangular cover plate, the washers at the neck join that appear to stand proud of the body, I just don't get it. Sorry.

Yeah, that was what I notice first as well. Furthermore, the knobs seem hard to reach in this indentation and the cable is probably in the way as well.

it would be exceptionally rare for a professional orchestral musician to be performing on a sub-$10k instrument.

i can speak more to basses since i'm a bassist, that the cheapest bass you're likely to see in a pro symphony may be $25-30k. even that i pretty unlikely, depending on the symphony.

as for the bass in the OP, it looks interesting but it's super hard to justify the $10k mark. i see innovative stuff, but not $10k worth.

ATST I've seen this local orchestral cat play his Kay on symphony gigs, not always but some. It's a hoot!

Never heard of the company or the bass. Now I'm interested - unique designs... Very nice!

As back story, Atlansia is the company of H. Niyashi, the 'H. Noble' listed as the designer on the headstock decal on various Aria Pro II axes from the 80's, including the mighty Aria SB's.

Totally original and disarmingly different in that way Oriental designs can seem to Western sensibilities, though I must admit a one-string bass would look strange no matter where it came from.

Probably not for me, but important that designers like this are out there.

What makes it worth 10k?
I spent around that for my Zon.
It eats other basses for lunch.

While Zon makes a great bass, you'd have to be a gambler to place an order for one these days, especially at those prices.
