Dream instrument, or….?

Sax, I have always wanted to play like Boney James. Back then it was Grover Washington Jr. I played trumpet, trombone, tuba in jr hi & HS. Tried to learn to play sax, just too many keys. Quickly gave up stayed with bass and keys !
Okay here's a completely strange one but the sounds it makes always fascinated me as a little kid... an authentic Australian Aboriginal Didgeridoo. I have no idea if they are easy to play or even if there is a technique to playing them but, I still to this day find the sounds they make very fascinating and mysterious.

I am lucky to have afford and learn Concertina (Though I hope to get to session level to play with others) and some basic clawhammer banjo. I guess I wish I could be better at those... I also do dream of owning my own upright as well
But honestly this may be so odd and since money isn't a problem in this question, if you could give me some magic car payment type money and the skills, I would honestly love to learn tuba or euphonium. Euph sounds very nice. But those instruments outside of a few genres would be so small but something about low brass that is close to my heart, I also guess baritone saxophone would be cool. All those instruments though take a lot of dedication and time, and chops (literally) you can lose them (Saxophone is more forgiving at least I found) so I guess on a more real note I do want to seriously learn in my life some basic Irish accordion so far and maybe blues harp, and some Ancient Greek instruments. Other than that so far that's it... I use to be obsessed with instrument collecting now thankfully fallen in love with bass... so keeping it dreaming of owning an upright, since you can play with concert bands with one!

I know it’s been asked several times before whether anyone plays instruments other than bass and I know a lot of us do. But I want to ask you all here whether there is an instrument that you *wish* you could play but haven’t yet got around to getting started on.
For me, it’s the Organ. And I mean the full thing, the Real McCoy, with three registers, pipes, foot pedals, hand sliders and all. Medieval cathedral-style, complete with the bats in the belfry. I’ve always loved this sound - it literally gives me shivers down my spine when I hear it in real life.
So. How about you? If there’s nothing for you that fits this bill, maybe you can just suggest a good thread title for me?
The grand piano! I agree, a cathedral type pipe organ cranked is a sound to be reconned with, just something about simple jazz on a grand in a jazz trio…..
Harmonica. Vibraphone. Concertina. Piano (and while I’m dreaming, ideally I would have a grand piano; they’re so cool).
I did get back into synthesis a few years ago (my original instrument from my teens was an analog synthesizer, with which I was much better at programming than playing). That decision has been tremendously rewarding and reaping emotional dividends.

I had a bass clarinet for years. Never got good at it though. I describe the sound as “a woodwind cello.” It’s so full and woody. I really love the sound of it played well!!
In addition to bass I can play piano/keys and mando pretty competently. I'd like to be able to play guitar beyond the very basic chord forms I currently know.
My Pipe organ story: I was doing a tour of the upper midwest some years ago and we did a gig in Minneapolis. After the show there were some folks at the gig who were from a big old church in the area (Swedish Covenant maybe ?). They invited the band to go check out their music program the next day and I was the only one who went (hey, I'm not any kind of christian, but it sounded more interesting than hanging out at a hotel with a bunch of road worn musicians). Very gracious people, and they had a truly monumental pipe organ in the church. Huge console, 3 ranks, the whole bit. After hanging out and talking a bit, they asked if I wanted to try it. Of course I said yes and it was just crazy how big it sounded. Two hand chords that made your hair stand up and low notes so low that they were basically just all pants-flap. So much fun and very inspiring.

For me it's the saxophone. It just has a way too steep learning curve for me to consider even starting. I remember trying it out once and I could not even get a single note out of it... A friend of mine is a very accomplished jazz saxophonist, and we started going to the same music school together, I was studying guitar, we had lessons at the same day and hour of the week, and I remembered hearing him practicing with his teacher in the next room, for many months he was only practicing single notes just to get the sound correctly! I can't imagine myself ever having the time and patience, but I just love the sound of the saxophone. Also, even a second hand saxophone costs way too much to buy just for trying.
Piano, as distinct from joystick/mod-wheel twiddling keyboards. I’d want the left hand chordal knowledge/technique stuff too.
My parents traded-in our piano for a tv set when I was about 5 and just discovering this amazing big thing in the corner that made fantastic noises. I never forgave them.

Not at all. After 30 years, my guitar still can't play itself either.
